GODS WILL TO HEAL -
Spoken Commandment

Methods of Healing Recorded in the Holy Bible

Through Spoken Commandment

Referring to the “Spoken Commandment” is when the thing or being was given an order and the order (rebuke, commandment) was followed. We are referring to doing something beyond suggestion when we are considering examples for “Spoken Commandment”. There exists combinations of methods but in this lesson we are only considering methods that reveal some type of “spoken commandment” by the Lord or a minister of God and then adherence to that commandment followed to bring to pass the speaker’s and receiver’s desire.

Old Testament

Genesis 2:15-17
15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. KJV

and Genesis 3:17-18
17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; KJV

In this example we notice that the Lord God commanded the man not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Thus, whenever “Spoken Commandment” is used it is non-revocable and non-negotiable to the speaker, it is either obey the commandment or pay the consequences of disobedience. This shows us that a spoken commandment can be broken but the consequences of disobedience may result in death. This example was chosen only to highlight the fact that sickness and disease entered the earth through man’s disobedience to God. Thus, initially sickness and disease was a by-product of sin. Today, sickness and disease is present in the earth and it will attempt to reign in man’s life but we must chose to resist it through God’s Word by open rebuke in the Name of Jesus. A minister once said, “Sickness and disease is nothing more than a manifestation of death in a limited measure.” His emphasis was that all sickness and disease works to hurt (kill or destroy) what is good (whole, right, life) and if not effectively dealt with it will produce physical death in the duration of time. A minister can command sickness to leave your body with some successful results but to obtain complete deliverance from sickness and/or disease the believer must have this revelation in their heart and practice resistance to sickness and disease both mentally and vocally as a lifestyle.

Joshua 10:12-14
12 Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.
13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.
14 And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel. KJV

Joshua commanded (decreed) the Sun and Moon to do something very specific. Spoken Commandment must be clear and concise to quickly measure the results. If the commandment is not clearly understood how can it be performed? The man or woman of God must cast off timidity and hesitation to effectively (boldly) use Spoken Commandment. We also see according to verses 12 & 14 that the Lord was involved in this verbal commandment because we need His approval (endorsement) to operate in this ministry tool because if God (His Word, His Principles) is not supporting (the foundation of) the words the thing (spirit or object) does not have to obey us. All things (spiritually or physically) must obey the commandment of God’s Word in Heaven and upon the earth to stay active (alive). If the spirit or thing decides not to obey God’s Word they will start experiencing death due to sin in some measure resulting in complete death unless they choose to repent.

2 Kings 20:9-11
9 And Isaiah said, This sign shalt thou have of the LORD, that the LORD will do the thing that he hath spoken: shall the shadow go forth ten degrees, or go back ten degrees?
10 And Hezekiah answered, It is a light thing for the shadow to go down ten degrees: nay, but let the shadow return backward ten degrees.
11 And Isaiah the prophet cried unto the LORD: and he brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down in the dial of Ahaz. KJV

In this example we see the phrase, “Isaiah the prophet cried unto the Lord” which means Isaiah spoke out loud (with a loud voice) to the Lord. This again shows us that 1) the Lord was involved and 2) it was a “spoken commandment” very specific in nature. It is interesting to note that this miracle involved the physical movement of the Sun or the Earth. Since the two are in respect to each other for the effect (image) of the shadow we can confidently conclude that at least one of them changed, if not both of them changed together at the same time.

Exodus 14:15-16 and 21-22
15 And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:
16 But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.

21 And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.
22 And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left. KJV

Notice in verse 15 the Lord said (revealed) unto Moses what was going to happen and we see Mose’s obedience to God’s Word in verse 21a, then we notice the fulfillment of those words in verse 21b. Although we didn’t read about Moses commanding the Red Sea to divide it is clearly stated in Psalm 106:8,9 that the Lord Himself commanded the Red Sea to divide just as He told Moses in Exodus 14:15.

Psalm 106:8-9
8 Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known.
9 He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness. KJV

This shows us the Lord Himself uses “Spoken Commandment” to change things (elements, atmosphere, nature itself) into His more perfect will. Remember the Lord rebuked (commanded) the sea because He desired it to do something different from what it was currently doing. As children of God we must follow the pattern and examples of the Lord God Almighty to duplicate His results in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Generally speaking if the commandment is too long or too involved the Lord will spell out the details Himself to the being or thing and charge you with giving the general order. In this case the Lord wanted it done a specific way (a wall of water on both sides, dry ground beneath their feet, a straight path, etc….) so He spoke to the sea and the wind and the ground telling them that the sign of the rod stretched out would be their cue to conform to His Spoken Commandment. In this example spoken commandment was used for preservation of life (the children of Israel) more so than healing, this miracle did bring forth their deliverance.

New Testament

This is the method used by Jesus and His Church to paralyze the works of the devils (or demons) which were influencing the behavior of men. This method is also used to interrupt the natural behavior of the elements when life is being threatened or judged.

Matthew 8:25-27 Jesus rebukes the winds and the sea and there was a great calm.

Mark 4:35-41 Jesus rebukes the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still”. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

Luke 8:23-25
23 But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy.
24 And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.
25 And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him. KJV

Notice in this example “Spoken Commandment” may be used to control the winds and/or waters in life threatening situations when the individual is performing God’s Will. Control over weather or heavenly elements was also displayed in the Old Testament with Joshua speaking to the Sun and Moon in Joshua 10:12-14 and with the Prophet Isaiah and Hezekiah with the time dial in 2 Kings 20:9-11 and with Moses during his exodus through the Red Sea in Exodus 14:13-31. There are others but the point remains when life is involved whether preservation or judgement man has some authority over elements (weather, sea, etc…2 Kings 2:8 and 14) when performing God’s Will. However, we do not have the freedom to exercise our will exclusively over the weather in general because the weather influences many people, therefore we must follow the prompting of the Lord to accurately know when we can exercise authority over the weather. However, in a life-threatening situation always exercise your authority if it involves your life (or your families) as Jesus did with His disciples. In this example spoken commandment was used for preservation of life (the disciples of the Lord) more so than healing, this action of Jesus did bring forth their deliverance.

Truth: It is easy and expected for you to exercise your authority if it involves your life or the life of someone under your authority. If the life of someone else is involved who is not under your authority (or influence) pray and follow the direction of the Lord to know what you can do and can not do in Jesus Name. Note: We can also exercise our authority over various destructive elements of weather (sleet, hail, tornadoes, excessively strong wind, etc…) to preserve our assets because we are suppose to be good stewards over what the Lord has placed in our hands.

Matthew 8:28-34 Jesus tells devils (demons) to go into the swine and they do.

Mark 5:1-20 Jesus commands an unclean spirit in a man to, “Come Out” and then ask the spirit what is it’s name. Finds out that there is a Legion (many devils) in this man and Jesus gives all of them leave when they requested to go into the swine.

Luke 8:26-39
28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not.
29 (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.) KJV

Notice that Jesus had to find out more information about the situation in this example because there was more than one devil inside of the man. Thus, all of the devils needed to be cast out to bring total deliverance to the man. Although the Lord spoke with the demons inside of the man to gain information His commandment of “Go” in Matthew 8:31 and “Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit” in Mark 5:8 still stood, so that commandment must be obeyed. Thus, Spoken Commandment was used to deliver a demon possessed man from the stronghold of the enemy. For a second witness we see this same technique used to deliver a younger man who did not have control over his own body in the following references:

Matthew 17:14-18 Jesus rebuked the demon in a man with who’s son was a lunatick and the child was cured.

Luke 9:38-42 Luke’s account points out that the devil threw down the young man right when he was coming to Jesus, this shows us that the will of the devil is to stop, hinder (delay), disrupt the deliverance of God if given an opportunity.

Mark 9:23-27
23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
24 And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
25 When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.
26 And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead.
27 But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose. KJV

In Mark’s account (Mark 9:17-27) Jesus inquires about the background of the situation He is facing. Jesus also deals with unbelief of the Father in verse 23. The Lord charges the dumb and deaf spirit to come out of the child and enter no more. Notice the word rebuked is generally used in the same verse. Typically, rebuked, commanded, charged can all be used to describe “Spoken Commandment” then we read the spirit obeyed the charge by Jesus. Thus, a possessed young man was delivered by “Spoken Commandment” to assure us (all Christian’s) to key to delivering people from the devil is not in the method but solely in the authority of the precise “spoken commandment” in the Name of Jesus.

Luke 4:36-39
36 And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.
37 And the fame of him went out into every place of the country round about.
38 And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her.
39 And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them. KJV

First notice that with authority (the Name of Jesus for us) and with power (understanding of God’s Word) He commands. We see that unless you have Jesus in your life and know that you have authority in the Name of Jesus Christ to set people free from all sickness and disease. You should not attempt to cast a devil out of someone on a trial basis. When you speak with the authority and power of God the enemy will know that you mean business and his demons will obey your words because you speak as a representative of Heaven. Now in verse 39 we see an actual demonstration of Jesus exercising this same authority over a fever (could be used for any sickness and/or disease where an evil influence is involved) and it (the fever) left the woman. In Matthew’s account only “spoken commandment” is mentioned as “He rebuked the fever” and it left her. In Matthew’s 8:14,15 and Mark’s 1:30,31 account the laying on of hands was mentioned without spoken commandment. Since “spoken commandment” can be used in combination with other ministry tools it is our opinion (ihlcc) that Jesus first commanded the fever to “go” then He laid His hands upon her to give her additional strength to help her rise to her feet for normal activity.

Mark 1:21-26
21 And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught.
22 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.
23 And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out,
24 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.
25 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him.
26 And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him. KJV

First we notice that Jesus taught with authority, therefore Jesus knew (had understanding of) his rights and privileges upon this earth. Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit by two short and simple commandments, simply put “Shut-up” and “Come out”. Notice that Jesus spoke out loud exactly what His desire was, giving clear and concise commands to the unclean spirit for obedience. The message was first heard then obeyed for effective and efficient results. According to verse 26 the unclean spirit made a public show (torn the man) with some noise (a loud cry) these demonstrations did not hinder or stop the power of God from delivering the person in need. Therefore don’t be moved by what you may see or hear stand strong in the Lord (the Name of Jesus) and the power (God’s spoke Word on the subject) until the desired results are obtained. Note: This may be immediately or in some cases you may need to stand for some time but never be faint hearted when it comes to someone else’s deliverance or even your own. Amen! This story is also recorded in Luke 4:31-35 with the same emphasis on “Spoken Commandment” for complete deliverance.

Acts 16:16-18
16 And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:
17 The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation.
18 And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour. KJV

Since this example is in Acts we see a good example of exactly what to say to cast out a devil as a Believer today. Notice the Apostle Paul gave a clear and concise commandment in the Name of Jesus. Basically Paul said out loud to the spirit of divination (fortune telling, attempting to reveal future events, a psychic) to “Come out of her” and it came out (not immediately) but rather within one hour. Therefore don’t be moved if you don’t see an immediate manifestation like the disciples stumbled over in Matthew 17:16 & 20,21 and Luke 9:40 it takes faith and patience to get the job done according to Hebrews 6:12.

James 4:7
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. KJV

The three-step process is simple for casting out devils or delivering someone from a spiritual sickness and/or disease. Step 1 - Submit (humble yourself) to the knowledge of God’s Word with understand of the Authority of the Name of Jesus. Step 2 - Give a clear and concise commandment specifying for the demonic influence to depart in the Name of Jesus. Step 3 - Be patience and praise God for the victory never be moved by what you see but stay in faith until you know the person is healed and/or delivered. Remember whenever you give (speak-out) a spoken commandment in the Name of Jesus He is right there with you to help you and He will confirm His Word with signs following. So never be concerned about His Work just work God’s Word in the Name of Jesus and God will assure you that He has already taken care of “His Part”. Remember, He told the father of the possessed son in Mark 9:23 “All things are possible to him who believes”. “Spoken Word” is proclaiming a blessing over someone and/or some thing. “Spoken Instruction” is speaking directions to a person(s) and/or a thing. However since the word “resist” is used in this scripture it is perfectly in-line with “Spoken Commandment” where the speaker is talking to an evil influence demanding that it change it’s present position for alignment with the Word of God (which is the Will of God). Amen!
